Our Story
In the 1960s, a group of parents envisioned the following:
… having a trusted partner in bringing up our children with strong values and relevant knowledge and skills.
… having a nurturing learning environment where everyone is like a family.
… a school family where my son is seen as an important individual and not just as one among many.
… a school where parents are empowered to be primary educators of their children.
Their dream became a reality with the establishment of the Parents for Education Foundation (PAREF) in 1976. Since then, other PAREF schools and Preschools have been established throughout the country.
In 1994 PAREF NORTHFIELD was established as a private elementary school for boys in Quezon City. When Northfield opened at #4 Escaler Street, Katipunan, it had 29 students from 27 families, five teachers and staff members. It only offered Prep to Grade Two classes. Shortly thereafter, it launched the rest of the levels to complete the elementary department. The High school department was opened in time for school year 2000-2001. By the end of SY 2008-2009, the school had a population of 363 students from Prep to Fourth Year High school, 32 teachers, 13 non-teaching personnel, 2 MANCOM members and a full time Chaplain.
In 1997, it moved to Scout Gandia in Quezon City which served as its home for the next two decades.
Tucked in a quiet corner in bustling Tomas Morato, it offered all levels of basic education to more than two hundred grade school to senior high school students.
Northfield “Mariners” (as we call our faculty and staff) continued sailing, yearning to find a place we can truly call our home until our ships finally docked at the idyllic Sun Valley Estates in 2014.
We’re truly home at last.
